Day of Caring 2010

The annual United Way Day of Caring, Rochester’s single largest volunteer event, took place on Thursday, May 13, 2010. Each year, thousands of people take a day off from work or school to lend their time, talents, and energy to help local not-for-profit service providers with all kinds of projects. CP Rochester would like to extend a special thank you to the 169 individuals and company representatives who volunteered their day to working hard at CP Rochester! As you can see, we did not make it easy work!!
GE MDS, Xerox, Nixon Peabody, Paetec, Butler/Till, ARC of Monroe, Rotork, Kodak, Jenna Mille Caldwell Manufacturing, Elks Fairport – Webster, Bill Denise, Paul Zoltoski and Dean Burkhard! They did everything: put on a carnival for the preschoolers in our gym, tree work, stain and weather proof furniture, do yard work, power wash, sand/finish tables, spring cleanup, clean vans… EVERYTHING! THANK YOU!
"As I walk into the building and past the outdoor classroom every morning, I can not begin to tell you how beautiful I find the space. The plantings outside the fence, the beautiful wildflower garden and tall grasses, and the fabulous playhouse never fail to bring me pleasure every morning. I hope you will express to the crew that worked in the outdoor classroom just how much I appreciate their hard work on Day of Caring. The children have planted herbs and sunflower seeds in the planters and vegetables in the raised bed. Today, in the 90 degree heat, the children were enjoying water play in the space and the delight on their faces was awesome! Please thank this crew who polished and planted, painted and shoveled. It is an incredible area that never ceases to please. Our wonderful volunteers have made it all possible, so please share my thanks with them." - Sent to Tina Bennett (Manager of Community Recreation & Volunteer Services who organized Day of Caring for CP Rochester) from Pat Graff (Director of Childrens Services at CP Rochester).
