CP Rochester's Dental Clinic caters exclusively to the dental needs of adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities.  Leslie A. Schiff, DDS who has been providing dental and periodontal treatment to individuals with developmental disabilities and physical disabilities for over ten years, will lead the Clinic.
“People with disabilities can expect the best dental care available in the area because we have designed the layout and the equipment with our patients in mind,” said Brian Klafehn, President of CP Rochester. The facility, designed to accommodate individuals with physical disabilities and mobility issues includes a ceiling track and lift for transfers from wheelchairs.  Specialized dental chairs, customized treatment rooms and state-of-the-art dental equipment guarantees the best of environments to maximize the effectiveness of each treatment.

There is a high incidence of periodontal and gum disease in the population of people with physical or developmental disabilities.  Causes range from genetics to difficulties with basic oral care, for an individual who lacks coordination or motor skills.  Education is an important component of Dr. Schiff’s role.  Instruction on daily oral care with a treatment regimen tailored to the individual patient’s needs and abilities are essential objectives. “We all know the benefits of a great smile.  That smile is not just a matter of appearance - bringing individuals who formerly struggled with toothbrushing to a state of good oral health has a very positive effect on their self-confidence and overall health.”
