Speech-Language Pathologists are responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of speech, language and/or swallowing disorders. Speech-language therapy is provided to individuals exhibiting communication disorders primarily in the areas of language (grammar and memory), articulation, voice production, fluency, and aural rehabilitation (hearing). Evaluation and training for the use of augmentative communication (e.g. speech generating devices) are also provided. The primary goal is to enhance functional communication skills. Additional services include evaluation and recommendations for feeding and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). All pathologists in the Speech Department are board certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
