Integrated Preschool

As a universal pre-kindergarten provider, CP Rochester’s Augustin Children’s Center provides preschool services to both children with disabilities and without disabilities. Our classes of 12 children are fully-integrated (six children with disabilities and six children without disabilities). Each classroom is led by a master’s level special education teacher and three classroom aides for a 1:4 adult-to-child ratio. We offer music sessions through our licensed music therapist. For those children in our preschool program who require therapeutic services, skilled therapists conduct sessions directly in the classroom whenever possible, integrating with the child’s educational experience and allowing the child to maintain a presence with their peers.

By being fully integrated, children with disabilities have the opportunity to model the age-appropriate behavior of their peers with access to higher learning standards. Children without disabilities have access to a language enriched, therapeutic learning environment and gain an appreciation of diversity and differences.
